Quarter Turn Stud Selection
-
Which Series Do You Require?
400 series (4mm
shaft), 600 Series
(6mm shaft) or 1000
series (10mm shaft)
-
Calculate The Grip Length. This is the
distance from the underside of the head to the
bottom of the Circlip groove (Top Face of the Clip).
This is found by adding together the thickness of
the Moveable Panel (dim X), the thickness of the
Fixed Framework (dim Z) and the gap between the two
(dim Y). If the resultant figure is not a whole
number you must round up to the nearest mm IE:
12.6mm Becomes 13mm and 22.3mm Becomes 23mm.

Grip Length = X + Y + Z
There are a number of factors which may also be
needed to be taken into account when calculating
your grip length as follows:
-
How Do You Wish To Retain The Stud In The
Panel? Neoprene Washer, Circlip or Circlip
and Bowed Washer for Compression.
-
Which Type Of Receptacle Do You Wish To Use?
Clip in Clip, Tolerance Clip, Rivet Clip, Angle
Bracket, Weld Plate: for
more details on clips click here.
-
There Are A Number of Additional Components
which can be used in conjunction with the Oddie
Stud and Clip. These must also be added to the
Final Grip Length calculation. Dimensions for
all these items can be found in the table below.

If a Clip in Clip Is To Be Used, An
Additional Dimension Must Be Added To The Grip
Length. This is the gap between the panels
which is caused by the retaining legs of the
Clip in Clip. However if the gap required is
greater than the following sizes then no
additional dimension will need to be added.
400 Series = 1.10mm
600 Series = 2.00mm
1000 Series = 1.8mm

This Gap (dimension Q) is calculated by
subtracting the thickness of the panel into
which the clip fits (dimension Z) from the
constant (dimension R) given in the table below.
NB: the gap dimension is the minimum that
is possible. If the gap between the two panels
is greater than the minimum dimension you do not
need to factor it into the calculation.

This
Gap (dimension Q) is calculated by
subtracting the thickness of the panel into
which the clip fits (dimension Z) from the
constant (dimension R) given in the table
Below.
-
Neoprene Calculation. To enable a
Neoprene Washer to be correctly selected a
simple calculation needs to be done.
-
Having calculated the Grip Length of the
Stud you must then subtract the Moveable or
Top Panel thickness from the figure. You
must also subtract any Cup Washer or Bowed
Washer sizes from the Grip Length.
-
Having arrived at the above figure you must
then add 30% for compression.
-
If the final figure is not a whole number
then round up to the nearest mm.
-
Clip in Clip Panel Preparation. In order
to fit a Clip in Clip a rectangular hole is
required in the panel the clip is to be fitted
to. The dimensions for this are listed below:
